What comes next after four decades?

After more than 40 years of founder leadership, Organic Herb Trading was preparing for a change in leadership and the establishment of a non-executive director (NED) board. The challenge was to bring the different parts of the business into one view, without losing sight of the values and experience that had shaped it.

I developed an independent Business Snapshot, informed by management interviews, employee feedback, financial and operational analysis, and wider market perspectives. Rather than treating issues in isolation, it brought together the themes and questions the leadership team and prospective board would need to discuss.

The Snapshot gave the incoming board and leadership team a shared starting point for their discussions about priorities, governance and the organisation's next chapter. It identified matters to consider, rather than pretending all the answers had already been decided.

Organic Herb Trading has described the Snapshot as its "go-to company document", helping the team think through next steps and plan its ongoing strategy. I've also continued to support the organisation as it considers strategy, innovation, funding and governance.
